Most things are subjective and relative, including happiness. I was NOT suggesting that we should not be happy; but seeking happiness should not be the purpose of one’s life. I think “the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, and to be compassionate…etc,” and in the process, if happiness drops in, even better.

I just want to quote from Steve Jobs (i.e. Apple’s and Pixar’s CEO) interview…it makes sence…

Emama, the things that give one’s life meaning and purpose might also be the same things that bring happiness…I think the quotes describes the purpose of life as being dutiful only….

Emama…I very much wish to differ on this point. I believe the purpose of life is to be happy. It is really good to be useful and responsible as long as it makes you feel happy. However, You don’t have to deprive yourself of the joy and the happiness that life presents on the pretext of being “responsible” or whatever. Besides, what does being responsible and useful mean? i think it is very subjective and relative.

I cannot believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, and to be compassionate. It is, above all to matter, to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all.

I had mixed feeling when i turned that page a year ago. I felt like some mystical thing to occur in my life but still it feels a bit different after that anyways.

About “life is too short” comment…if i believe that, I would keep my butt so busy so that I build a legacy to be remembered. After all, after my death there is no “I” to see my life back, right? I can’t remember the joy or happiness that I had. No difference except my legacy. So, senator, CEO and professor…go for it…

About “children” comments, unless you have it , you have no idea. I am having toooooo much fun with my two months old boy. His morning smile makes my world. It feels like falling in love everyday. I am not exaggerating. Every morning I am missing my 9AM meeting just watching my baby for 30 minutes. I can’t advice you to have but i can tell you my experience.

I doubt you can’t find one woman with integrity. I think you are atracted to women without any and those are the kinds of girls you go for.
