Beshou is always talking about music; you know,…about two weeks ago we started talking about bernos’s anniversary celebration music selection.
The bernos crew is actually more of an online crew, we meet but we don’t really meet. We are almost ever together… we have our monthly meetings minamin… with all of us together.. well not that much.
So really where we meet is online. We do one of those emails, where everything is replied to everybody. When we design the Bernos Tees, it’s online. When we start a project, it’s.. it’s online.
So ya, when we started talking about the music,… one would include everyone and send an email, and the discussion begins. One would be assigned with the task, and one would supplement that task and the others recommend their opinions.
It’s so productive… its impressive…Meron was in Greece this past weekend… Dawit and Ethio Jazz have actually never met in person… When was the last time I saw Ethio Jazz in person… it must be about six month ago… Beshou is doing her reggae music selection from Philly… She was in communication with Robel (ToothPick) because he was doing a flyer to promote the anniversary.
The bernos party is actually hosted by professional promoters… Dawit had mentioned DCAbesha crew. Hosted means, they are in charge, they take care of everything for us… and obviously they make the money as well. We, we are there to party! Party includes promoting and setting up a theme for the night… etc…
And party, party is music.. I mean there is drinking, flirting, minamin.. but a party is music… the music sets up the mood, for drinking , dancing, schmoozing or whatever else you do at these barties… my grandmother can’t say party, she says barty for some reason
But what is a bernos party without bernos music… so it’s our music.
Podcasted a song that setup the mood the night my mother married my father.
Podcasted is KebetbaTa Wetat by Seyfu Kebede and the Army Band.

Nolawi, I will be to to barty with you, this was such a great song. It has brought up big memories of twist dancing from when my mom would put it on cassette and do what is called a jerk dance.
Congratulation bernos for making it a year.
So I get this email about this post… and I had titled it wrong…
apparently the title kebetBaTa wetaT ans a crazy young person.. and obviously the title makes real sense you know.. seeing as though this was a sixties song about the twist… minamin…
I thought the title was wetet.. as in milk.. but I argued that even that makes sense as wetet milk is a slang for a young person…
so my friends would say… if the girl is too young.. or inexpeirenced
as in she is fresh with know experience…
I understand….Esuama wetet nat….but I don’t understand Kebetbata wetet. The wetet part refers to the beauty or the character of the person not the person herself. I think it should be QebeTbaTa weTat.
its edited dinich.. by the actual title
ps thanks mariamawit!
Happy Anniversary….and many many many more years to come
