This is utterly meaningless conversation that is taking place here. I don’t like to kill your joke appetite but some of you are ridiclously arrogant.

Someone mentioned why African-Americans get offended when they are called niggers by white folks. The reason is simply clear. There are some jokes that you can tolerate, there are some you can not. Making fun of people who died because of unfortunate circumstances is unacceptable. Specially your own folks whom didn’t deserve to die. Remember the women and children who couldn’t stand up because they didn’t have food to eat. Remember those who made the world cry. I mean the last thing we should be doing is making fun of those situations. Don’t get me wrong people, I am not against making fun of my own folks, we have so many jokes that would make you cry not just laugh…why can’t we talk about them?

You know, Nol this not the way to show how civilized you are. Frankly, you should apologize to the people that you offended and move on.

And please, try not to intimidate people just because they don’t laugh at your jokes…yea stop abusing your power…

wudnesh, tnx for the invitation…

As of right now Ethiopia is one of Western’s fav countrie’s for our goverment’s political involvment and views. For me this is a bonus and the best time to go for charities or get support from the goverment…how helpful can the US goverment be? , well that I know of, they just gave a scholarship for 200 students from one of back home’s private college with a promise of green card once they graduated…two of my friedns just got here through this process… so I think we can start establishing a legit charity through Bernos, involve with our money and ideas and see how far that will take us and see if we can atleast start building one school for orphan’s and unfortunate kids… I know this idea could be a long shot, but what we got to loose, our money? our time? well atleast I can sleep better knowing I tried… ALL I KNOW IS WE GOT TO DO SOMETING.. I’m down with whatever you guys think would work….

1st time in the house
i read all the above written (it’s more like standing behind the curtain) and I only wish for the sake of Ethiopia, Africa and even God, we all think as Chelema… I know whatever I would say/said wouldn’t make sense to y’all, or you wouldn’t even bother with it since you have your precious life and stress to care for soo why bother… the reason I said that cuz someone said above that “True it doesn’t help the starving families but who says we’re not doing our share of assisting them?…” yadi yadi yada…the way i c it ur full of s***, WHY? cuz,

1st, if u were involved assistin or doing ur share, u wouldn’t find this issue funny
2nd, if u were, u would be sayin, Listen ppl, all jokes a side and since we’r in a land of oportunity, how can we all come together and help? anybody any idea?

Ethiopian doesn’t need ur monthly $35 that goes to ur favorite charity for Ethiopia, nor the monthly $ u send fo ur fam… trust me ppl that lived in this country b4 us have done it and still doin it, but nothin has changed…

Ethiopia/Africa needs a leader not a follower nor a step sider and definatly not a joker on herself…

y’all sound like a smart, dynamic minded ppl…so why dont u use ur mind fo sometin useful and try to change thr problem from the root…i’m not sayin involve with politics…no..im sayin we can talk bout if there is a way to build schools with our $$ and even charities… the more educated ppl we have in our home land, the better we improve the odds on our feature

all our kings, president and prime minister didnt kill, and arrest all educated ppl fo nuttin

we should step up for the challenge since we stand a better chance of winnin tomorow and since it seems we’r the only hope for the next generation…

Wow! Some Deep writing on this Blog. Keep it up. I Would just like to add my two cents. We all feel/share the pain and sorrow for Ethiopians of the 84 famine and current famines that are still occuring. Even other famines and tragedies that are happening around the world. It is very sad and heart wrenching to see all that footage on Tv of families with young children starving and suffering. I come from a country that has a big heart and gives to many charities around the world. I am from Australia.
But to add to the original topic of this conversation, my personal opinion abut all these jokes is:
A joke is a joke. They are made to lighten serious situations.
Jokes are funny cause they have SOME (not all) truth to them. We all know that there are places in Ethiopia where there are people starving and to make light of it, we joke about it. But It’s still a serious issue. We know that.
Racist?? well… It’s the same way you may make fun of (for example)the Irish and how dumb or stingy they are. You never hear the Irish complain. But they are much more tolerant when we make fun of them. They have a
sence of humour , They laugh with us. But where is your sence of humor and tolerance? No one was directing any of the jokes at a single individual in particular. So just laugh it off. If you don’t like it, it doesn’t mean you have to FORCE your opinions, Nasty comments and views on others. All jokes are racist, stereotypical or sexist or what ever… You can’t
please everyone. If they weren’t racist, sexist etc. they wouldn’t be funny.
