Abebayoosh!
space.png

I recall when I used to watch Space 1999, which I was my favorite show on TV after Girma Cheru’s program on Y’elijoch Gize. I used to follow his instructions to the T while doing the exercises in the living room carpet.

Sewunetach’inin Enaftata, Dub Dub Ahnd, Hulet, Sost, Arat.

1999 came and passed in the Western calendar. As of now there are no occupants in Moon Base; May be 1999 in the Ethiopian Calendar will bring forth the dream like futuristic notions that are claimed in science fiction books and movies.

I called to ask Bernos’ own Ethio Jazz to select a song from his library. I was thinking nothing says Melkame Enkutatashe in 1999 than Prince's “Let’s party like its 1999.” Such a cliché, I’m sure the DJ’s in Addis played it in the New Years Eve celebrations.

The consensus, Abebayeosh from Ethiopique 15 sang by Jump Addis (featuring Zelalem "Mimi" Guebre / Mignot Zenebe / Muluqen Teshome / Ermyas Tsegaye/ Brouk Ybas)
